Question

Well, I just purchased my first Little Sister doll on ebay. She is a used doll. The lady that sold it said that somebody put what appears to be lipstick on the lips (probably part of the face too) and nails. I wonder if the kids did that so that the doll looked better when auctioned. Who knows. But in any case, the lady said that she wiped part of it with a rag to see if it would come off and she said it did. But she did mention that some of it is still there.

So here is my question. What is the best way to clean something like that? I don't want to take off her natural color or cheek color. Will lipstick really come off? I hope it wasn't a red marker but if it was, can you take that off too?

I don't have the doll yet but I am trying to make myself feel better that I bought a doll with red stuff on her. She looked fine to me in the picture. I couldn't see much red but the lady said that there it was.

Thanks.

Congratulations on your "new addition"! I've used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser pretty successfully. Other than that, I've only used soapy water. Good luck!

If the stuff on her nails is nail polish...I would hesitate to recommend nail polish remover with acetone...I have used it with success...but I would feel responsible if something happens to your new addition.

Sorry, I tried to paste the image of the doll directly into the post and it didn't work. I used to be a programmer before my daughter was born. I guess I am out of practice now

Awww, you got a Tess! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Non-acetone nailpolish remover is safe to use on her vinyl, and it should take off the nailpolish. I'd also second the Mr. Clean magic eraser. It's great for removing all traces of "play-goo" from her skin, and you'd have to scrub long and hard to remove her face paint with it. If it doesn't take the marks off, they may be permanent, in which case acne cream with 10% benzoyl peroxide will work over a few days time, but it will also remove the color from painted areas.

I love the little sisters!
that's tess.
How much did you find her for- if you don't mind me asking?
I got a Lily for 39.00 not nib on ebay
a NIB Tess for 45.00 on ebay
and a NIB Katie for 59.00 (yikes) I didn't get her on ebay though.....

good find- they are cute and have a good resale value since they are no longer made!

I got the doll for $23.50 plus $8 for shipping. I thought it was a great deal and that's why I got her at the last minute. The lady had no clue as to what brand the doll was. She just said that she had the number 305/15 on the back of her head. I think that's why she sold it for less. According to her the doll is in perfect condition except for the "lipstick" on the doll's lips and fingernails.

I love the name "Tess". Yes, she will keep that name. I can't wait until she gets here so that I can clean her up and get her all dressed up and pretty.
